Quick byte of the day.

Co-worker: "Hey, do you smell something burning in the pantry?"

Me: "Um thats the Earth. It's starting a day early."

Thank you. I'll be here all week.

You've been bitten.

Let's play catch..... up.

Its been a few months since I blogged, not because my world or our world has been void of noteworthy events but i guess sometimes I want to say so much that i dont know what to say.

Sooooo, here are a few things.
Since my last blog, 26 friends or family on my Facebook page have had a birthday.  A very Happy Birthday to all of them.

The Avengers, Spiderman and Batman movies were all released. Not to mention a bunch of other crap that no one went to see.

Shootings in NY, Colorado, Texas, Wisconsin, South Africa and thousands of others I dont even know about have claimed the lives of hundreds of people. The NRA can go suck a monkey nut. We need to, OUR GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO, take control of the gun control issue. Our federal government, that seems to enjoy getting their toms, dicks and harrys into just about everything else needs to start cracking the fcking political whip and get the states in line. I dont give 2 craps of a rhino's ass about no more supersize drinks but i do give a shit about some fcking idiot being able to get an AK-47 in 7 to 10 days so he can open fire on a room full of innocent people. You fuck heads in Washington need to do what you were put in place to do, Fcking govern!!

(Deep breath)

I'm very happy to have found a few of my "long lost" cousins on FB and plan to visit them and my very lost father in PR next year.

Mom continues to display a strong front while she battles to keep as much of herself as possible from being stripped away by her Alzheimer's.

My nephew Nick, graduated from high school in June and will be starting college in a couple of weeks. Great job Nick, we are all very proud!!

We took a ride on the original Batcoptor from the 60's TV series. Fricking awesome!

Summer softball season ended with a 2 game loss in the semi's. Fall league here we come!

Speaking of summer, I'm sooo ready for the fall. All this heat and humidity can KMA.

Speaking of KMA. MTA can still KMA.

My beautiful wife, has committed to making and keeping herself healthier and more fit and I couldn't be more proud of her sweat, hard work and dedication. And yes, i'm doing my part to keep up with her.

Our Florida vacation is booked, our weekend in Salem is booked.

Football is back.  Nuff said.

I started this blog about 3 hours ago so i've lost some direction and focus. LOL but i guess thats enough for now. Just wanted to flex my fingers a little.

HER: Oh but  I dont need them right now, im about to go out to lunch.

So why did you interrupt MY lunch for something you don't even need you idiot?

Oh Ozzie, Why do you speak your mind?

MIAMI (AP) — Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen was suspended for five games Tuesday because of his comments about Fidel Castro.
The suspension by the team takes effect immediately. It was announced shortly before Guillen was to hold a news conference to explain his remarks, which caused a public backlash.
Guillen told Time magazine he loves Castro and respects the retired Cuban leader for staying in power so long. At least two local officials said Guillen should lose his job. - Associated Press - 04/10/2012

Oh Ozzie, why do you speak your mind?

Because he can.

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. - United States Bill of Rights - 12/15/1791

So here's the thing, Ozzie has a legal right to say what ever he wants to say even if it's downright nonsense. Let us not be hypocrites people. We defend our right to freedom of speech yet call for the lynch mob the moment someone does. We have had leaders of our great nation say dumber things than this. If Ozzie is to be punished for his statement why does it go unpunished when dude on the corner of 34th street is calling our government or every "white man" the devil? Don't we all have the right to say something we may think whether it be positively inspiring or completely ignorant and ridiculous?
Now let me be clear, yes Ozzie you're being rather ignorant and insensitive with your comments especially given that your home base is within the largest Cuban community in the country. You should be more aware and more educated about the injustices suffered by Cubans at the hand of Castro, but suspension? Loss of his job? I think that's going a little too far.
Let Ozzie apologize after realizing how ignorant and insensitive his comment was, and then lets move on people.
We all stand on the platform of freedom of speech, of the right to assemble and petition and protest. We cry out for the tolerance for those that look, speak, dress and think differently from you or I.
Lets add to that the understanding that sometimes we ALL say stupid shit.

“You can delegate authority, but not responsibility.”

“You can delegate authority, but not responsibility.”- Stephen W. Comiskey

Ever get the feeling that life would be so much easier if you weren't so responsible? I mean I see people be totally irresponsible and indifferent around me all the time. I see people who dont give two craps about themselves or their families or about life in general. Yet i see these same people being happy or content and carefree. Meanwhile i'm the one that goes out of way, that gives the extra effort, the extra mile but i'm the one that's exhausted and frustrated and loses sleep. Really? There are 1%'s and the 99%'s, what's the percentage of "winders" out there? That fairly large group of people who let the winds take them through the path of least resistance often obstructing the rest of us who actually give a damn where we are headed and are fighting the winds to make our own path.

Working for the weekend....

It's kinda funny. How many times in your life, in a week, just this past Monday did you hear the words "Is it Friday yet?" or "I can't wait til Friday".
I just had that kind of exchange in the pantry while getting a coffee. "Just looking forward to Friday".
Pretty harmless and pretty accurate but at that moment it hit me. We are all always looking forward to Friday, waiting for the weekend, planning that evening next week, that vacation next year. Always looking forward to the next thing or next day and TODAY is not even over. What happened to looking forward to or just appreciating today? Thank you God. Thank you for everything that i have today and everything I dont have surely because it would not benefit me. Thank you for my life and the great people in it and thanks for tomorrow & Friday & next week & next year and the soul, body and mind to appreciate each one.

I'm so ashamed. Wait, no YOU should be ashamed.

So three Grown-ass 30 and 40 something guys are having a conversation about laundry. On the surface there is nothing wrong with that right? Of course not but here are some bits of the conversation.

* I cant iron my own shirts if my life depended on it.
* I just take my stuff to the dry cleaners.
* What's the difference between laundry and dry cleaning?
* I just take my stuff to my mom.

OH MY GOD! Are you freaking serious!? If any of you were 16, I might be able to forgive most of that but you're obviously in your mid-thirties and you take your laundry to mom!?
And YOU! You look older than me so you have to be at least forty!! And you don't know how to iron your own shirt!?

Listen fellas, and I'm talking to EVERY male who bothers to read this post. Learn to take care of your own shit!
Being a man, a real man in this world is NOT just about making money, moving heavy things, playing sports and chasing skirts.
A real man should know how to iron his shirt AND hang a picture frame.
A real man should know how to make himself (or someone else) a good meal that doesn't only involve opening a can or a box of instant something.
A real man should be able to keep a clean home, a clean kitchen, a clean bathroom and not just know how to wash and wax his car.
And for God's sake, a real man should know how to do his own laundry.

How do you expect to truly take care of your woman and/or your family if you can't even take proper care of yourself?
You should be ashamed.

And we have a winner...

So can someone please show me a picture of the incredibly intelligent individual who thought it was an awesome idea to build a fire out in the open and burn the religious books of the people whose country you are currently in being that said country is so secure and safe that you are behind a barbed, electrified fence.

We understand if you are unable to accept in person your very special "I'm a stupid ass" Award.

USB-S, my pet peeve rant of the day.

So the wife's HTC Incredible uses a mini USB charger. My LG also uses a mini USB charger. And my new Kindle Fire (Thanks Baby!)  yep, you guessed it... it also uses a mini USB charger.
So the question we must now ask... Why in the name of sanity, common sense and reasonable logic do these identical mini USB chargers NOT WORK universally with the other 2 devices?????
How can i have three identical USB cords yet while it charges the Incredible it wont charge my Ally? They are both phones! They are within the same family of devices! Borrowing from my brother in law... "Does that make any sense to you?" It sure as hell doesn't to me.
Listen you highly intelligent, progressive-thinking, gadget creating (i'll replace another four letter word with) TECHholes..... Get it together! Majority of devices are going with the mini USB and the majority of these devices are priced probably double or triple what it takes to make them. Are you seriously now going to force me to spend MORE money on an individual charger for each of them???
For all its genius, advances, usefulness and convenience, technology can be... hmm let me rephrase that.... the greedy money hungry techholes that create these technologies can be pretty stupid.

Now you'll excuse me as I need to charge my Kindle, my Ally and my Blackberry.

It's a New Year

First I will say that i'm not sure i like this new look that blogger.com has. Just throwing that out there.
Now to business... Happy New Year to all.
I trust that everyone has recovered from their various holiday afflictions like food comas, alcohol poisoning, spontaneous "I wasted another year" depression episodes and the "holy crap, I spent HOW much money on gifts?" financial pit traps. Just a sidebar that this last one is usually suffered for an extended period of time and is sometimes accompanied by PSTISSD. (Post-Spending-Truamatic-I'm-Screwed-Stress-Disorder) Good luck with that.

Now for a little inspiration.
Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." - Revelation 21:5  NKJV

Since traditionally people seem to think that the only time they can make changes is the start of the new year, here we are people. It's time. I myself have always believed that it doesn't matter what day it is, you can start change on any day of the week, month or year. You just have to commit to making the change. But for the rest of you who need that its a brand new year motivation, get to it!
And lets not be so completely unrealistic with these changes, some are larger than others of course but sometimes even the smallest change makes a world of difference. Maybe we can all start by just trying to be better PEOPLE.
Commit to  being a better a friend, a better listener, a better reader, a better speaker. Commit to leaving one grudge in the past, forgiving someone for a transgression, ask forgiveness for one of yours.
Commit to learning how to finally program that smartphone, finish that book you started last year, the crossword you started last week.
Commit to reading every line of your cable bill, or your electric bill or your cell phone bill so that you understand what youre paying and why and how you can possibly save yourself a few dollars a month. Commit to paying off that one credit card, that overdue bill or setting aside $25 a week to get yourself that special something you've been wanting.
Commit to not having that next slice of pizza, to having a salad once a week, to doing 105 situps a week. (Thats 15 a day for the mathematically challenged) How about committing to doing a couple of long division problems a week?  I jest but a change could be as simple as that.
I know its cliche but everyday truly IS another chance to do better, feel better, act better. Make sure that when 2013 comes around, you wont need to say "I wasted another year." Every accomplishment is a step towards another.
Live long and prosper and stay thirsty my friends.
Much love and blessings.
